THE WINERY

DueMani, or “Two Hands,” are two people: Elena Celli and Luca D'Attoma. In 2000 they found the perfect land for their project, situated between Castellina Marittima and Riparbella, overlooking the Tuscan coast. It is an extreme and severe place, mainly clay soils with many stones, uncultivated for many years and surrounded by Mediterranean shrubs. This is a hill that smells of the sea and forest. It faces the coast at an altitude of 820-980 feet. There is sun, light and a continuous breeze that guarantees temperature range, fundamental for bouquet and slow maturation, the promise of perfect balance.

The idea behind establishing the winery on the coast of Tuscany was to produce wines from their favorite grapes: Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Merlot, Alicante, and Grenache. Here, due to both climate and soil, they best express their characteristics by reaching optimal ripeness, resulting in wines with great body and originality.

From the beginning, Elena and Luca decided to cultivate the land following Biodynamic Agriculture, in order to respect and preserve this immaculate environment and maintain a pure and lively soil. Viticulture is done primarily by manual labor. Their 12 hectares of vineyard are high-density, and managed with the help of small tractors for tillage and the distribution of the biodynamic preparations aimed at increasing the energy of the soil and plants.

The DueMani wine cellar is a single complex, preserving its integrity without the use of chemical substances. It is also a simple yet highly functional place, where technology is minimized and where cleanliness and attention to detail reign supreme. They use amphorae and cement containers, terracotta and ‘cocciopesto’ jars - all natural, breathable materials - as well as oak vats and barriques. Wines are never clarified nor filtered.

DueMani wines are certified Organic from BioAgriCert and certified Biodynamic® from Demeter. They produce 5 wines: Si, CiFRA, Altrovino, DUEMANI, and SUISASSI for an average total of 45,000 bottles per year.
