The Winery

Fattoria di Grignano is the site of a stunning villa built by the Medici Family starting in the 15th century, completed in its current form by the 18th century. Since 1972 Grignano has been owned by the Inghirami family of Borgo Sansepolcro, and today Tommaso Inghirami, third generation of the family, is in charge of the management of the entire Estate. The villa is the heart of Fattoria di Grignano, located in the middle of a vast estate that stretches from the Sieve River up into the hills above the town of Pontassieve, all within the Chianti Rufina designation zone, only 12 km from the Florence city center.

Today, the estate covers nearly 600 hectares divided into 40 farms with orchards and arable crops, although wine and olive growing are the main activities. The old cellars of the historic villa were recently restored to their original splendor.

Tommaso Inghirami with the support of the winemaker Stefano Chioccioli and all the winery team have the ambition to produce elegant and long-lived Sangiovese wines.

All the 50 hectares of vineyards are certified organic. The particular microclimate of the area, altitude, and ventilation allow for high quality of the grapes with minimal intervention.
