Castello del terriccio
First produced in 2000, Castello del Terriccio’s eponymous wine was immediately included in the pantheon of Italian wines, the 2006 vintage winning the gold medal at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards competition. Production is an exclusive 20,000 bottles per year. The three roses on the label represent the rose bushes growing in front of each row the vineyards, which serve as an early indicator of potential vineyard threats so that the vines may be treated in time. A stunning wine from a top-class estate with a 1000-year history.

22 months aging in French oak barrels
After being harvested by hand, the grapes are gently de-stemmed and pressed, with particular attention to conserving the skin of the berries. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in open cap stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature with maceration of the grapes for about 20 days. Daily draining allows for the perfect extraction of the aromatic bouquet and the right tannic balance, with important structure that will allow a long aging. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for a period of about 22 months followed by a further one in the bottle before being marketed.
